Retha Sisler

Retha Sisler / South Africa

Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again. –Nelson Mandela

Retha lives with her husband, dogs and parrot in Pretoria, South Africa. She considers herself blessed because their daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren live a stone’s throw away. Retha was diagnosed with MS during 1995. Helping people has always been one of her passions. The former high school principal and teacher became a part-time MS columnist, motivational speaker and consultant to assist people on their journey with MS. Retha is very artistic. Apart from painting, she also designs and creates handmade fancy skirts for little girls. Her favourite time of the day is early morning, before she takes her granddaughter to school, when she feeds the confusion of wild guinea-fowl foraging near the river behind their property. The quotation from Madiba (Nelson Mandela) sums up her attitude towards life and also how she perceives others.
